Licensed Practical Nurse (Oncology)

About the role

A licensed practical nurse (LPN) is needed at the Oncology Consultants Medical Center office to support physicians and registered nurses in the care of patients. The position pays between $21.00 and $35.54 and requires willingness to work at any AON location.

Key responsibilities

• Mix and administer chemotherapeutic agents safely and accurately, under the direct supervision of the registered nurse and at the discretion of the head nurse, following ONS standards
• Dispose of biohazardous waste correctly per OSHA and HRS guidelines
• Obtain lab samples and perform technical laboratory procedures, including specimen handling, processing and sending specimens to outside labs according to the patient's insurance plan
• Maintain test report, quality control, equipment and checklist logs
• Perform port access procedures and administer injections after a complete symptom assessment
• Document treatments accurately in OncoEMR, prepare superbills and follow the AON ID policy on medication administration
• Educate patients and families about medications, side effects and treatment plans, and handle telephone triage calls
• Help with inventory, restocking and dispensing medications via Nucleus, including cycle counts and entering patient charges
• Attend safety and staff meetings, train new employees and protect patient and employee confidentiality

Required profile

• State license as a Licensed Practical Nurse; IV therapy experience in a clinic or hospital is preferred, and a 30-hour IV certification course is mandatory or must be completed within 90 days of hire
• Current CPR and BLS certification
• Fluent English and excellent oral and written communication
• Valid driver's license in the resident state to travel to clinics
