Licensed Practical Nurse (Full Time & Part Time)

About the role

A Licensed Practical Nurse provides nursing care, supervises nursing staff and complies with state statutes and regulations governing the practice of nursing, policies, procedures and physician orders. The position is open to full-time and part-time candidates and pays $33.95-$42.90 per hour. It works under the direction of a Registered Nurse or designee.

Key responsibilities

• Perform direct hands-on nursing care and provide resident education, documenting assessments, care, education and observations in the medical record.
• Take part in developing, implementing, evaluating and updating individualized care plans, and review and update care and discharge plans.
• Assist physicians on rounds, help with exams and treatments, and supervise assigned staff such as orientation, training and evaluation.
• Monitor medications for side effects, interactions and contraindications, and respond to medical and psychiatric emergencies and codes.
• Complete nursing rounds, change-of-shift reports and admission, transfer and dismissal documentation, and assist with admissions and referrals.
• Maintain confidentiality, report suspected abuse or neglect, and investigate complaints or suggestions.
• Participate in QAPI activities, promote a clean and safe environment, and act as a mentor and representative for community agencies and nursing schools.

Required profile

• Diploma from an accredited college or university in nursing.
• Current Nebraska nursing license or a license from a compact state recognized by the Nebraska Board of Nursing, kept in good standing.
• CPR certification within three months of hire and maintained throughout employment.
• Healthcare experience (acute care, skilled rehabilitation, skilled nursing or long-term care) preferred; electronic health record experience preferred.
• Pre-employment criminal record check, drug screen and physical assessment required.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work in a healthcare facility with potential exposure to biohazards.
