Job description
About the role
Amentum is hiring a Level 1 Content Developer to research, gather, synthesize and maintain the mission and technical raw content used to build training courses. The developer also provides subject matter expert (SME) input on what testing is appropriate and ensures technical alignment of assessment items with course objectives. The courses are active 08:00-17:00 Monday to Friday, with core hours 10:00-14:00.
Key responsibilities
- Gather and validate raw content, document sources and references, and review storyboards for technical accuracy.
- Draft or update technical narratives, procedures, lab and exercise instructions using Government-approved templates and tools.
- Clarify technical intent with Instructional Designers and Graphic Artists, and help draft assessment questions, rubrics and answer criteria without answer keys.
- Coordinate content submissions to Configuration Management repositories and support versioning and release notes.
- Research cyber content and build, configure, modify and troubleshoot systems, VMs, networks, scripts and tools used in training and assessment.
- Document dependencies, assumptions, edge cases and failure conditions, and support practical assessments, automated grading and controlled exam material.
- Follow approved version and configuration-control workflows and communicate blockers and status.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., computer science, cyber engineering, information technology, electrical engineering, mathematics) and 2 years of relevant experience, or an associate's degree and 4 years, or a high school diploma/GED and 6 years.
- Relevant experience includes mission/technical content research and development, drafting technical procedures and labs, and SME support to instructional design.
- TS/SCI security clearance preferred.
- Working proficiency in at least one Section 2 specialty; prior operational CNO/CND experience, especially as an Exploitation Analyst or Interactive Operator, is strongly preferred.
Required skills
- Hands-on cyber/IT foundation sufficient to build and troubleshoot technical training; instructional-design or LMS experience alone is not enough.
- Ability to investigate problems with evidence, read and modify scripts or code, and explain system behavior into accurate labs and procedures.
- Foundational understanding of operating systems, networks, virtualization, software and cyber tradecraft.
What we offer
- Pay range of $175,000 to $190,000.
- Health, dental and vision insurance, paid time off and holidays, retirement benefits including 401(k) matching, educational reimbursement, parental leave, employee stock purchase plan, and pet insurance.
