Legislative Affairs Specialist (Direct Hire)

About the role

The Legislative Affairs Specialist will work within NASA's Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs (OLIA) to support the agency’s legislative agenda. This position coordinates with internal and external partners, representing NASA before state legislative bodies and elected officials.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of legislative liaison, including text review, analysis, and reporting for assigned program areas.
• Represent NASA to state and local elected officials as assigned.
• Develop hearing strategies with agency staff and program officials, aligning agency objectives with committee concerns.
• Prepare briefing materials and recommendations for senior officials meeting with congressional members and staff.
• Draft official letters to members of Congress, congressional staff, and constituents on program‑related issues.
• Plan and execute outreach to inform congressional stakeholders about NASA solicitations, priorities, and events.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen, national, or person owing allegiance to the United States.
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑09 level, including reviewing legislative processes and understanding congressional sensitivities.
• Ability to obtain a pre‑employment background investigation and, if required, a higher‑level clearance.
• Willingness to complete a financial disclosure statement if selected.
