Legal Response Specialist (USDS)

About the role

The Legal Response Specialist joins TikTok’s Safety Regulatory Compliance Operations (SRCO) USDS team. You will work on the Law Enforcement Response Team (LERT) to review time‑sensitive legal requests for user data, ensure compliance with the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, and help keep the platform safe for millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Review and respond to preservation requests, subpoenas, court orders, and search warrants from US law‑enforcement agencies.
• Handle sensitive user data in line with TikTok’s Terms of Service, applicable laws, and internal SOPs.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional internal teams and external networks on safety and data‑disclosure issues.
• Work directly with legal, litigation, and privacy teams to resolve legal requests.
• Gather and analyze data to improve internal processes and communicate insights to stakeholders.
• Assist in drafting and refining documentation, workflows, and procedures related to safety and data disclosure.
• Maintain resilience while being exposed to potentially harmful content on a daily basis.
• Participate in a regular rotation that includes one weekend day per week.

Required profile

• Experience handling US law‑enforcement data requests and familiarity with the ECPA.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, fast‑changing environments.
• Comfort with reviewing disturbing content and maintaining professional composure.
