Legal Administrative Assistant – Construction Defense

About the role

The law firm of Marshall Dennehey is seeking a full‑time Legal Administrative Assistant to support its litigation defense team in Jacksonville. The ideal candidate has 1‑5 years of defense litigation experience, preferably in construction defense.

Key responsibilities

• Perform secretarial and clerical duties, including opening mail, logging attorney time, and entering time sheets daily.
• Answer calls, provide non‑legal information when appropriate, and take messages for attorneys.
• Transcribe dictation using the BigHand system and draft correspondence for attorney approval.
• Maintain and organize files, schedule depositions, meetings, and appointments.
• Make travel arrangements, hotel reservations, and manage the attorney’s diary.
• Deliver or collect documents for attorneys in emergencies.

Required profile

• 1‑5 years of defense litigation experience; construction defense preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to manage a heavy workload in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong communication skills with clients and co‑workers.
• Excellent organization, typing accuracy, attention to detail, and multitasking ability.
