Lecturer in Aviation Sciences

About the role

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore seeks a full‑time, non‑tenure‑track Lecturer in Aviation Sciences to join its Aviation Science program beginning January 2026. The position supports both the technical and professional development of students preparing for careers in aviation operations, management, and piloting.

Key responsibilities

• Teach up to 12 semester credit hours of core aviation science and professional pilot concentration courses, including FAA Part 141 ground school.
• Assist in achieving and maintaining AABI accreditation and maintain FAA‑141 records.
• Provide academic and programmatic advising to students.
• Conduct research and publish in refereed journals.
• Serve on departmental and university committees.
• Support the Chief and Assistant Chief Instructor with compliance duties.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Aeronautical Sciences or a related field (or 10+ years recent aviation professional experience in lieu of a master’s).
• Extensive experience in flight training and/or pilot ground instruction.
• Proven leadership experience.
• Valid FAA Ground or Flight Instructor Certificate.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Word.
