Lecturer – Architecture Design Studio I

About the role

The School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation at the University of Maryland, College Park seeks a part‑time Lecturer for the 2026‑27 academic year. The successful candidate will lead ARCH400 – Architecture Design Studio I and related studio courses, contributing to the school’s mission of interdisciplinary, people‑focused design education.

Key responsibilities

• Teach and mentor undergraduate students in studio‑based architecture design courses.
• Attend the mandatory lecturer orientation and adhere to the Architecture Program Faculty Handbook.
• Develop a course syllabus that complies with university and program policies.
• Provide written mid‑semester assessments of student progress and promptly notify the Program Director of any failing students.
• Coordinate class schedules using the Architecture Program Calendar and the university’s online scheduling system.
• Engage with faculty and professional practice partners to integrate real‑world insights into studio projects.

Required profile

• Graduate degree in Architecture or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated experience teaching design studios at the undergraduate level.
• Active involvement in professional practice or research within architecture, planning, or preservation.
• Ability to develop clear, policy‑compliant course materials and assessments.
