Lead Wastewater Operator – City Utilities

About the role

The City of Pearland is looking for a Lead Wastewater Operator to lead and improve day‑to‑day operations of its Utilities Department. This position oversees a crew performing semi‑skilled and skilled duties related to wastewater treatment, pumping, and monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and participate in crew activities for inspection, operation, maintenance, and repair of wastewater pumping, water‑treatment, chemical‑control, and monitoring equipment.
• Operate the Division’s SCADA system and ensure proper disinfectant/sterilization distribution to city water streams.
• Perform or coordinate repairs on lift pumps, blowers, reservoirs, automated valves, and related equipment.
• Coordinate and conduct the wastewater quality sampling program, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies.
• Respond to operational emergencies and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Service‑oriented mindset with ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
• Valid Texas TCEQ Water Operator license (Grade C, B, or A).
• Relevant experience in municipal wastewater operations and crew supervision.
