Lead Teacher – Early Learning Center

About the role

The Center for African Immigrants and Refugees Organization (CAIRO) seeks a Lead Teacher to head an Early Learning Center classroom. You will guide a teaching team, coordinate curriculum, and ensure a safe, play‑based environment for 3‑5‑year‑olds.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and supervise a cohesive teaching team, including Assistant Teacher and Classroom Aide.
• Coordinate and implement the Creative Curriculum and Second Step frameworks.
• Manage daily classroom operations, budgeting, record‑keeping, and compliance with DELC, OSHA, PFA, PSP and other regulations.
• Serve as on‑site Site Director during all operating hours and collaborate with Multi‑Site Coordinators.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year experience in a certified childcare center with children ages 3‑5.
• At least a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or equivalent credential, or an associate’s degree with additional training.
• Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or ORO step 8.
• Must be 18 years or older and meet Oregon’s Central Background Registry requirements.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows OS and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience using Google Workspace, Google Sheets, and Zoom.
• Familiarity with BambooHR, Procare, and Teaching Strategies web platforms.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb and perform CPR/First Aid as needed.

• Hourly wage $24.86‑$33.15 based on step, education and training.
• 40‑hour work week, 7:15 am‑3:45 pm schedule.
