Lead System Administrator

About the role

We are seeking a Lead System Administrator to manage, maintain, secure, and troubleshoot Linux‑based infrastructure in a Department of Defense environment. This role reports to the Deputy Program Manager and includes team leadership responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of 2‑3 cyber security and system administrators supporting customer efforts.
• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux (RHEL/Rocky) and Windows servers, including Active Directory.
• Deploy and manage physical and virtual Linux systems, using tools such as Kickstart, PXE, Cobbler, and Ansible.
• Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks, Bash and Python automation scripts.
• Implement Linux security hardening, SELinux, firewalld, SSH, sudo, and authentication mechanisms.
• Monitor system health, performance, and resource utilization; manage updates, patches, and repositories.
• Support containerized workloads with Podman and Docker.
• Perform backups, disaster‑recovery activities, and maintain documentation.
• Participate in incident response, root‑cause analysis, and infrastructure migrations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years total experience with at least 3 years on Linux systems and 3 years on Windows systems.
• Active TS/SCI clearance and experience with DoD Risk Management Framework.
• Leadership or management experience is highly desirable.
