Lead Protection & Control Test Engineer

About the role

POWERX is seeking a Lead Protection & Control Test Engineer to head the testing, commissioning, validation, and operational integration of protection and control systems across transmission, distribution, and generation substations. The role combines technical leadership with hands‑on field mentorship to ensure electrical systems meet safety, reliability, and utility standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead testing and commissioning activities for protection and control equipment in substations.
• Validate system performance against engineered design intent and POWERX commissioning philosophy.
• Mentor field personnel, providing guidance on best practices and safety procedures.
• Analyze system behavior, topology, and protection philosophy to troubleshoot issues.
• Document test results, generate reports, and ensure compliance with utility standards.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of protection system topology and philosophy.
• Ability to interpret relay logic and sequence components.
• Knowledge of AC/DC fundamentals and communications architecture.
• Experience working in transmission, distribution, or generation substation environments.
• Commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
