Lead Production Technician – Weekend Second Shift

About the role

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Lead Production Technician to head a fast‑paced, weekend second‑shift team that builds high‑temperature superconducting magnets and related assemblies for fusion devices. The role combines hands‑on production work with leadership, continuous‑improvement, and strict safety and quality oversight.

Key responsibilities

• Hire, lead, and train a team of technicians and welders to produce electromechanical parts and assemblies.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to develop and qualify new production techniques.
• Execute hardware builds according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing discrepancies and drive continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Utilize precision tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers, as well as hand and power tools.
• Enforce safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
• Provide performance feedback during bi‑annual reviews and handle additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or higher.
• At least 2 years of formal leadership experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Minimum 6 years of hands‑on experience with mechanical/electrical assembly, plumbing, vacuum systems, epoxy potting, injection molding, cryogenic systems, soldering, and wiring.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and team accountability.
