Lead Product Designer

About the role

You will own the physical experience of a next‑generation AI‑powered wearable, shaping how it looks, feels and integrates into users' lives. Reporting to the Head of Hardware, you will work closely with engineering leads and external contract manufacturers to turn requirements into a market‑ready product.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end industrial design and mechanical engineering for the wearable, from sketch through CAD, prototype, tooling and DfM.
• Integrate electronics into soft‑goods, managing flex PCB packaging, rigid‑island placement, textile‑to‑rigid transitions, weight distribution and thermal management.
• Define and enforce comfort engineering standards, including pressure mapping, weight balance, skin‑contact thermal limits, breathability and fit across head sizes.
• Drive the design language and material story for the brand’s physical products, selecting fabrics, seams and visual cues.
• Partner with EE, audio, camera and reliability leads to meet subsystem requirements and ensure robustness.

Required profile

• 10+ years of industrial design or mechanical engineering experience with multiple shipped consumer wearables or comparable body‑worn products.
• Proven experience integrating electronics into soft goods or textile products (apparel, headwear, garments).
• Strong instinct for comfort engineering backed by structured wear testing and iteration.
• Experience driving DfM, tooling and quality with overseas contract manufacturers.

Required skills

• Advanced CAD proficiency (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Rhino or equivalent).
• Rendering expertise (Keyshot or comparable).
• Comfort engineering techniques (pressure mapping, thermal limits, fit validation).
• DfM and tooling development for soft‑goods and electronics integration.
