Lead Pharmacist (Hospital Pharmacy Supervisor)

About the role

The Lead Pharmacist will oversee daily pharmacy operations at our Peridot, AZ hospital, ensuring the highest quality of medication dispensing, patient safety, and regulatory compliance. This senior position combines clinical expertise with management responsibilities to drive continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and supervise all pharmacy administrative functions, including staffing, scheduling, and performance monitoring.
• Develop and track operational and financial metrics, integrating them into organization‑wide quality improvement initiatives.
• Create, implement, and evaluate departmental policies, procedures, and service standards.
• Lead continuous process improvement efforts and assess program effectiveness.
• Manage pharmacy information and dispensing systems to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
• Oversee purchasing, inventory control, and cost‑effective medication management.
• Provide mentorship, feedback, and professional development opportunities for pharmacy staff.
• Prepare monthly operational reports, highlighting areas for improvement and recommended actions.

Required profile

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree preferred; Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy acceptable.
• At least one year of PGY‑1 residency preferred.
• Minimum two years of hospital pharmacy experience; five years total professional experience with at least two years in a supervisory role.
• Current, unrestricted Arizona pharmacist license (or ability to obtain).
• BLS certification within 30‑90 days of hire.
• Licensed to administer immunizations, vaccines, and emergency medications.
