Lead Machine Operator - Tape Department

About the role

Dura-Line, an Orbia Connectivity Solutions business, is hiring a Lead Machine Operator in West Valley City for its Tape Department. The role supports the production of high-quality yarn on looming machines, keeping the weaving process continuous, safe and efficient from start to reel completion. It is a full-time, 3rd-shift position (Sunday-Thursday, 11:00 PM-7:15 AM) and requires availability for a one-week training schedule (Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:15 PM).

Key responsibilities

• Assist tape associates, train new team members and step into the Supervisor role when needed.
• Set up and operate looms and printers, perform minor equipment maintenance and document shifts and downtime.
• Oversee inner-plant truck pulling and packaging, and record loom production numbers.
• Load and maintain raw materials on reels, checking weft and lockstitch weaving and fluid levels.
• Build reels for the next shift while following safety requirements and keeping the work area tidy.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of heavy equipment/machine operation experience.
• At least 1 year of management or lead experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work extended shifts, weekends and nights, and stand on concrete floors for long periods.
• Comfortable in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, data entry and SAP is preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude, ability to read measuring instruments and pass reading, writing and math competency tests.
