Lead Detailer – Construction

About the role

U.S. Engineering Construction is seeking a Lead Detailer to head a team of detailers responsible for creating coordinated Mechanical and Plumbing BIM models. The role works closely with the Regional Manager of Virtual Construction, Project Manager, General Foreman, General Contractor and Subcontractors to ensure models meet company standards and building codes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the detailing team, determining staffing levels and performance.
• Model and coordinate 3D intelligent BIM models using Revit and related software.
• Produce shop and fabrication deliverables, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
• Oversee coordination of models with in‑house trades and external project teams.
• Review submittals, sketches, and notes to determine the best drawing approach.
• Validate the work of the detailing team for accuracy and code compliance.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in Engineering or Drafting Technology is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years experience as a pipe fitter, plumber, or sheet‑metal worker.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, piping, and plumbing layout.
• Ability to interpret building codes and project specifications.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Revit software.
• Experience using AutoCAD (preferred).
• Familiarity with Navisworks Manage.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience with Procore software (preferred).
