Lead Cement Mason / Concrete Finisher

About the role

Louisiana Bridge Builders is seeking an experienced Lead Cement Mason/Concrete Finisher to join the team in Lake Charles, LA. You will be responsible for placing, finishing, repairing, and curing concrete surfaces on major bridge and highway projects, ensuring high‑quality results that meet safety and durability standards.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily crew activities, provide clear instructions and updates.
• Set forms, screeds, and verify alignment, elevation, and grade.
• Mix, pour, spread, level, and smooth concrete using hand and power tools.
• Finish surfaces with trowels, floats, screeds, and edgers.
• Apply sealers, curing compounds, and other surface treatments.
• Cut expansion joints with hand tools or power saws.
• Monitor curing process to achieve proper strength.
• Repair, patch, and resurface existing concrete using grinders, demo hammers, and repair mortars.
• Read and interpret repair procedures and specifications.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in a safe, clean condition.

Required profile

• Effective written and verbal communication with customers, team members, and vendors.
• Ability to follow and convey written and oral instructions.
• Team‑oriented with initiative to work independently.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, or holidays as needed.
• Comfort working at heights using finishing buggies or man‑lifts.
• Valid, current driver’s license.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and layout tools.
• Experience using trowels, floats, screeds, edgers, concrete grinders, and demo hammers.
• Mixing, pouring, and finishing concrete.
• Cutting expansion joints.
• Reading and applying concrete repair specifications.
