Lead Assembly Technician – Third Shift

About the role

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Lead Assembly Technician for the third‑shift team that builds the SPARC Tokamak. You will coordinate small technician crews, manage daily work orders, and ensure high‑quality assembly of large‑scale components on a tight schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Organise and assign daily work orders for mechanical, welding, electrical and lifting tasks.
• Supervise the handling, alignment and mechanical integration of electromagnetic coils, vacuum vessels, instrumentation, support structures, tooling, diagnostic systems and superconducting cable bundles.
• Conduct morning briefs, shift hand‑offs and on‑site inspections (visual buy‑off) of completed work.
• Collaborate directly with engineers, metrology, quality and other teams to resolve build issues.
• Participate in major on‑site operations such as component lifts and movements.

Required profile

• Extensive experience building and handling large equipment, structures or plant systems.
• Proven ability to lead small technician teams and manage day‑to‑day assembly activities.
• Strong coordination skills with engineers, quality and metrology groups.
• Willingness to work a weekday third‑shift schedule (10 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.).
