About the role
Lead Assembly Technician will oversee small technician teams to assemble the SPARC Tokamak, coordinating the handling, alignment and integration of large electromagnetic coils, vacuum vessels, instrumentation, support structures and superconducting cable bundles. The role ensures the device is built on schedule and to high quality standards.
Key responsibilities
- Manage day‑to‑day work orders and assign technicians according to the assembly schedule.
- Conduct and supervise major on‑site operations such as component lifts, movements and mechanical integration.
- Review work orders covering mechanical, welding, electrical and lifting tasks.
- Provide morning briefs, shift hand‑offs and daily updates to the team.
- Perform visual inspection buy‑offs and ensure compliance with quality and metrology requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers, metrology, quality and other groups to resolve issues during build.
Required profile
- Extensive experience building and handling large equipment or plant systems.
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate small technical teams in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to adjust plans based on evolving project needs.
- Effective communication with cross‑functional teams to ensure precise completion of components.
