Law Enforcement K-9 Handler – Federal Reserve

About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta is seeking a qualified Law Enforcement K-9 Handler to protect its Miami premises. Working as part of a K-9 team, you will provide explosives detection, emergency response, and security patrols to safeguard personnel, property, and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain law‑enforcement officer designation under the Federal Reserve Act and meet all department standards.
• Operate a K‑9 team to conduct explosives detection screening of deliveries, vehicles, and special events.
• Provide routine patrols, respond to alarms, accidents, and incidents, and prepare accurate written reports.
• Maintain certification and proficiency for both handler and K‑9 in explosive detection.
• Care for, train, and handle the assigned K‑9, ensuring its health and readiness.
• Utilize weapons (lethal and non‑lethal), first aid/CPR, firefighting techniques, and public‑relations skills as required.
• Operate computer‑based access control, video surveillance, X‑ray, metal detection, and alarm systems.
• Stay informed on current trends and technological developments in K‑9 and law‑enforcement fields.

Required profile

• Current designation as a law‑enforcement officer authorized by the Federal Reserve Board.
• Successful completion of all required training and certification programs.
• Demonstrated judgment in life‑safety situations and handling of sensitive information.
• Ability to testify in court if required.
