Lathe Machinist – 2nd/3rd Shift

About the role

Moog is seeking a skilled Lathe (Grind) Machinist to join its Military Aircraft Group on the 2nd/3rd shift at the Buffalo, NY facility. You will produce high‑precision components for critical aerospace programs such as the F‑35, MQ‑25, and FLRAA, ensuring strict quality and reliability standards.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, operation sheets, and verbal instructions to machine complex parts.
• Operate and maintain various grinders, selecting and dressing wheels to meet drawing requirements.
• Achieve tight tolerances (typically .001 +/- .0005) on precision components.
• Use measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and dial bore gauges to verify dimensions.
• Maintain compliance with FAA Safety Sensitive Work regulations and the company’s drug and alcohol program.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED preferred; ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
• Minimum 3 years experience as a precision machinist, preferably with grinding experience.
• Demonstrated ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
