Land Survey Crew Chief

About the role

ISG Inc., a full-service, multi-disciplinary geospatial firm serving public and private clients across the country, is hiring a Land Survey Crew Chief. The role works on a variety of projects within Public Works, Water, Commercial and other business units, using industry-leading equipment. It is primarily a field-work position based in North Olmsted, Ohio.

Key responsibilities

• Collect quality field survey data at an adequate speed, depending on each project and task
• Prepare field drawings and high-quality notes in line with ISG and survey standards
• Learn the provided survey hardware (Trimble, Leica, Topcon, etc.) and assemble instruments and measuring devices for each assignment
• Make sure the right equipment is loaded and charged for the next job
• Maintain a positive relationship with clients and the public in the field
• Work as a team player, accountable to teammates and recognizing their performance
• Process LiDAR sensor data into point clouds, adjust to survey control and handle QA/QC reporting
• Extract mapping features from photogrammetry, mobile and terrestrial point clouds to create base maps for design or planning

Required profile

• Fundamental experience, eagerness to learn and enjoyment of working outside; formal education in surveying, civil engineering or GIS is optional
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record, as travel to job sites is required
• Adaptable and willing to take on tasks outside their comfort zone
• Comfortable and enjoys working outdoors

Required skills

• Familiarity with survey hardware such as Trimble, Leica and Topcon
• Working knowledge of robotic total stations and GPS
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Experience in construction staking, ALTA, boundary and topographic surveys
• Strong communication, organization, analytical and interpersonal skills
