Geospatial Specialist

About the role

ISG is hiring a Geospatial Specialist in North Olmsted, Ohio, for its Public Works, Water, Commercial and other business units. The team works on a variety of projects using industry-leading equipment and serves public and private clients across the country. It is primarily a field-work position involving travel to job sites.

Key responsibilities

• Collect quality field survey data at an adequate speed for each project and task
• Prepare field drawings and high-quality notes in line with ISG and survey standards
• Learn the provided survey hardware (Trimble, Leica, Topcon, etc.) and assemble and charge instruments for each assignment
• Maintain a positive relationship with clients and the public in the field
• Work as a team player, helping teammates complete their tasks and recognizing their performance
• Process LiDAR sensor data into point clouds, adjusted to survey control, with QA/QC reporting
• Extract mapping features from photogrammetry, mobile and terrestrial point clouds to create base maps for design or planning

Required profile

• Fundamental experience, eagerness to learn and enjoyment of working outside; formal education in surveying, civil engineering or GIS is not required
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record and willingness to travel out of town
• Adaptable and comfortable taking on tasks outside their comfort zone

Required skills

• Familiarity with survey hardware such as Trimble, Leica and Topcon
• Working knowledge of robotic total stations and GPS
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Experience in construction staking, ALTA, boundary and topographic surveys
• Strong communication, organization, analytical and interpersonal skills
