Laborer – Aerostat Operations

About the role

QinetiQ US is seeking an experienced Site Laborer to support line handling operations for the DHS Customs & Border Protection Tethered Aerostat Radar System (TARS) program. You will work on multiple sites across the U.S. Southern border, assisting with aerostat flight activities and general site maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist aeronautical crew with pre‑launch, launch, ascent, transition, station‑keeping, and recovery of aerostats.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance on aerostat and radar systems.
• Load and unload trucks, move supplies, stack materials, and manage inventory.
• Collect refuse, handle salvageable materials, and conduct basic earthwork (dig, fill, tamp).
• Support site operations such as security patrols, landscaping, and logistical tasks.

Required profile

• Physical ability to perform manual labor tasks with minimal specialized training.
• Experience managing aerostat flight operations or similar large‑scale tethered platforms.
• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
• Reliability, punctuality, and a safety‑first mindset.
