Laboratory Support Coordinator

About the role

The University of Miami UHealth Laboratories Department is seeking a full‑time Laboratory Support Coordinator to manage administrative and customer‑service functions for its UTower Hospital laboratory. The role serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, handling testing requests, payments, and research documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, scan, and process ancillary and send‑out testing requests, including add‑on and alternate sample orders.
• Communicate with customers to address inquiries, investigate complaints, and provide status updates.
• Handle payment processing, invoicing, and record‑keeping for patient and research services.
• Manage autopsy requests, slide returns, and legal service invoices.
• Accession, label, and gross specimens; coordinate with pathologists for material selection.
• Track cytogenetic testing, critical values, and STAT LMC pick‑ups.
• Create IT and facilities tickets, request archived material, and triage samples for archiving.
• Enter results and update patient encounters in the UCHART laboratory information system.

Required profile

• Experience handling complex administrative issues in a laboratory or medical setting.
• Strong communication skills for face‑to‑face, telephone, email, and written interactions.
• Ability to manage multiple requests, payments, and documentation accurately.

Required skills

• Proficiency with UCHART (laboratory information system) for result entry and record management.
