Laboratory Supervisor

About the role

The Laboratory Supervisor provides technical and scientific oversight of the laboratory at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus. This full‑time, days‑only position ensures accurate, timely test result reporting and maintains high‑quality laboratory operations.

Key responsibilities

• Verify test procedures, establish performance characteristics, and manage proficiency testing programs.
• Develop and maintain quality control programs, monitor analytic performance, and resolve technical problems.
• Supervise laboratory staff, handle hiring, orientation, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
• Assess and document competency of testing personnel through observations, record reviews, and proficiency testing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science (or equivalent ASCP certification).
• 5 years of clinical laboratory experience in high‑complexity testing; 3‑5 years in a leadership role preferred.
• Eligibility for ASCP certification (MLS, HTL, CT) and ability to meet CLIA regulations.

Required skills

• Proficiency in cytogenetics and FISH testing.
• Experience with quality control, proficiency testing, and instrument maintenance.
• Knowledge of laboratory accreditation standards and regulatory compliance.
