Laboratory Coordinator, Forensic Science

About the role

The Laboratory Coordinator supports the Forensic Science program at Saint Louis University by managing the forensic laboratory, ensuring compliance with safety and accreditation standards, and providing essential assistance to instructors and students.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of the forensic science laboratory, including equipment maintenance, inventory control and safety compliance.
• Prepare and support laboratory sessions for undergraduate and graduate courses, assisting instructors with set‑up, troubleshooting and grading.
• Mentor and advise forensic science majors and minors, handling enrollment issues, scheduling and student‑worker supervision.
• Coordinate research projects, public outreach activities and recruitment events in collaboration with faculty and university departments.
• Handle administrative duties such as purchase requisitions, liaison with campus services, and assistance with hiring of lab personnel.

Required profile

• Experience managing a forensic or scientific laboratory environment.
• Familiarity with FEPAC‑accredited program requirements and university safety protocols.
• Ability to work independently while supporting faculty and students.

Required skills

• Laboratory instrumentation operation and troubleshooting.
• Chemical inventory management and solution preparation.
