Labor and Delivery Night Shift Contract RN

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a contract Registered Nurse for its Labor and Delivery unit on nights, working 36 hours per week at a pay rate of $63 per hour. The position is open to StaffFlex nurses who want flexible contract assignments at one facility or the chance to float within multiple hospitals across 9 states, with no third-party agency involved.

Key responsibilities

• Educate patients and families from admission to discharge on medical and nursing care plans, medications, tests, procedures, disease processes and discharge instructions, and document what is taught and the patient's response.
• Deliver competent, compassionate care to patients in pain and maintain a safe care environment.
• Administer medications accurately and respond to unit and hospital code situations.
• Provide nursing care for patients requiring oxygen support and assist physicians with bedside procedures.
• Manage patient admissions, transfers and discharges, verify and sign off physician orders, obtain lab specimens and evaluate the nursing care plan.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN).
• 2+ years of labor and delivery nursing experience in an acute hospital setting.
• Fluent in English, read, spoken and written.
• Ability to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patients, evaluate interventions and revise the plan of care.
• Basic computer skills, including navigating Microsoft Windows programs.

Required skills

• BLS (CPR) certification.
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM).
• Trauma Nurse Course Certified (TNCC) preferred.
