About the role

Southeastern Louisiana University's Department of TRIO-Student Support Services is seeking a dedicated professional to serve as a Junior/Senior Student Advisor. The role focuses on guiding low‑income, first‑generation, and disabled students through academic planning, goal setting, problem‑solving, and navigating campus resources to promote success and retention.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist students with academic planning and course selection.
  • Support goal setting and problem‑solving strategies.
  • Help students navigate educational resources and campus services.
  • Build positive relationships and provide guidance that fosters personal growth.

Required profile

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology).
  • At least two years of work experience.
  • Minimum one year of experience working with students in a post‑secondary setting.

Required skills

  • Proficiency with computer‑based technology for task completion.
  • Ability to plan, create, publish, and share content on social media platforms.
