Junior Trade Analyst

About the role

ST Shipping is looking for a motivated Junior Trade Analyst to join its New York team. The role reports to the Head of Chartering (London) and the Head of Operations (New York) and provides analytical and commercial support across trading, chartering and shipping activities. It suits an early-career professional who wants exposure to global commodities and freight markets alongside experienced commercial and operations teams.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate effective and timely communication with trading desks.
• Assist the chartering team with netback calculations, deal entry and trade clearances.
• Analyze commodity, freight and market price data.
• Monitor market fundamentals and provide insights to support commercial decisions.
• Perform fleet and vessel performance analytics.
• Prepare reports, dashboards and ad hoc analyses using Excel and other reporting tools.
• Support commercial and operational teams with data management and reporting needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain, Maritime Studies, Analytics or a related field.
• 1-2 years of relevant experience in analytics, logistics, shipping, commodities, operations or a related field.
• Strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate across global teams.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups and data analysis.
• Data analysis and reporting.

What we offer

• Expected base salary of $75,000 - $95,000, depending on skills, experience, education and other factors.
