Junior Software Engineer

About the role

MetLife’s Global Technology team is looking for an early‑career software engineer to help build and support modern enterprise applications, platform services, and automation solutions. You will work with AI‑assisted development tools and cloud technologies to deliver high‑quality, resilient software that powers critical customer experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain software components, APIs, and automation solutions.
• Support cloud/platform deployments, monitor operations, and resolve issues.
• Leverage AI‑enabled development tools to improve productivity and code quality.
• Integrate internal and external services, including AI‑based APIs where appropriate.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams in an Agile delivery environment.
• Follow engineering, security, and responsible AI standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field.
• Internship or academic project experience in software development or AI/ML.
• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and deliver high‑quality software.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Python, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, COBOL).
• Basic understanding of software design principles, coding best practices, and secure coding.
• Familiarity with database concepts and cloud‑native technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
