Full Stack Developer - Fraud and Identity Verification

About the role

Barclays is hiring a Full Stack Developer for its Fraud and Identity Verification (IDV) team in Whippany, NJ. The role helps build and evolve the platforms that protect millions of customers and transactions daily, forming a key part of the bank's fraud prevention strategy. You will work with modern Java microservices powering real-time risk assessment, authentication and verification systems.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in the day-to-day operations of the technology function across a range of technology capabilities.
• Design and innovate products using the newest technologies.
• Work cross-functionally with the business to understand their needs and convey them to the development team, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Develop change and innovative solutions and collaborate with peers, promoting knowledge sharing.
• Manage risk and strengthen controls in the work you own, and embed new policies and procedures adopted for risk mitigation.

Required profile

• Solid foundation in Java fundamentals, with an interest in building and supporting backend services at scale.
• Problem-solving and analytical skills, with curiosity about how technology can prevent fraud and protect customers.
• Eagerness to learn modern engineering practices in microservices, APIs and CI/CD within an agile, cross-functional team.
• Ability to act as an individual contributor, developing technical expertise and advising where appropriate.

Required skills

• Java
• Nice to have: Spring / Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, microservices-based architectures
• Nice to have: SQL or NoSQL databases and basic data modelling
• Nice to have: cloud platforms, DevOps or site reliability concepts

What we offer

• Base salary of $75,000 to $135,000; the position is eligible for an incentive award.
