Junior Cybersecurity Engineer

About the role

The South Carolina Department of Revenue is seeking a Junior Cybersecurity Engineer to support and enhance its security infrastructure. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience with a variety of security technologies while working alongside seasoned professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Support and maintain vulnerability management tools, SIEM, log aggregation, SOAR, data traffic observability, and endpoint security solutions.
• Assist in designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud, hybrid, and on‑premises security solutions.
• Participate in security reviews, vulnerability analyses, and technology evaluations to identify risks.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, SOC, and GRC teams on remediation, system hardening, incident response, and workflow improvements.
• Help senior engineers research, test, configure, and evaluate new security technologies and support agency‑wide security projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, computer science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in an information‑technology or security‑focused role.
• Analytical problem‑solver with strong communication skills.
• Curious learner who stays current on cybersecurity threats and tools.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
