Senior Backend Engineer – Attack & User Emulation

About the role

SimSpace is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for its Attack and User Emulation (AUE) team. You will design, develop, and maintain the core microservices that power realistic cyber‑range simulations, ensuring high scalability, performance, and fault tolerance.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain core services for cybersecurity range simulation, focusing on scalability, performance, and fault tolerance.
• Lead end‑to‑end technical projects from requirements gathering and architecture design to deployment, setting clear goals and priorities.
• Mentor and support engineers, promoting best coding practices, testing, and architectural design.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and UX Designers to translate requirements into technically sound, user‑centered solutions.
• Conduct code reviews, implement robust monitoring and alerting, and ensure services meet security and compliance standards.
• Document technical architecture, system design, and best practices for knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Strong bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
• 5+ years of software development experience building large‑scale, distributed systems.
• Expertise in Java or Kotlin, with solid API design and integration skills.
• Hands‑on experience with unit testing, integration testing, and deploying services on Kubernetes or similar platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to design, build, and operate fault‑tolerant systems.
• Broad understanding of offensive and defensive cybersecurity concepts.
