JROTC Instructor – Career & Technical Education (CTE)

About the role

The Board of Education is seeking a qualified JROTC Instructor to lead the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program at Hutchinson Central Technical High School for the 2026‑2027 school year. Reporting to the school principal and the Director of CTE, the instructor will deliver the JROTC curriculum, mentor cadets, and coordinate extracurricular military‑related activities.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and manage the JROTC curriculum and program requirements.
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise co‑curricular activities such as drill meets, military balls, encampments, and honor guard duties.
• Oversee property, budget, and fundraising for the JROTC unit.
• Assess student progress through formal and informal evaluations and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
• Develop thematic units and projects that integrate JROTC content with other academic areas.
• Instruct 180 hours of character‑development material in classroom and laboratory settings.
• Advise and evaluate extracurricular teams, including drill, physical training, and academic challenge squads.
• Mentor cadets, support leadership development, and promote cadet involvement in school activities.

Required profile

• Current certification in accordance with JROTC rules and regulations.
• Non‑commissioned officer (E6‑E9) or commissioned officer (O‑3 to O‑6) rank from any U.S. military branch.
• Demonstrated experience serving in the military and certified as a JROTC instructor by the appropriate service branch.

• Knowledge of JROTC curriculum standards and instructional methods.
• Ability to develop lesson plans, coordinate events, and manage program budgets.
• Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities for high‑school cadets.
