Job Captain – Interior Architecture (Charlotte)

About the role

IA Interior Architects is seeking a Job Captain for its Charlotte studio. The role leads and manages the technical team, providing design support throughout project administration, design development, and contract documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Observe and report on active construction projects.
• Attend and contribute to construction progress meetings.
• Review and respond to contractor submittals and requests for information.
• Coordinate consultants and owner vendors during the construction phase.
• Communicate regularly with owners, project managers, and contractors on construction matters.
• Manage and coordinate changes in the work, preparing change documents using the Revit model.
• Collaborate with the project manager and other design team members.

Required profile

• Graduate of architecture or design school (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in corporate interior design projects.
• Extensive knowledge of design principles and standards.
• Intermediate documentation and field observation skills.
• Advanced interior architecture detailing abilities.
• Working knowledge of construction documents, building systems, codes, ADA requirements, space planning, and contract administration.
• Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead junior staff.

• Advanced Revit proficiency.
• Advanced BIM 360 proficiency.
• Advanced Adobe Creative Suite proficiency.
• Affinity program or equivalent.
• Intermediate MS Office Suite skills.
