Jail Diversion Peer Support Specialist

About the role

The Center for Human Development, Inc. seeks a full‑time Jail Diversion Peer Support Specialist to provide peer support to individuals housed in the local county jail. The role focuses on connecting clients with community services and reducing recidivism linked to mental health challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Meet with clients in the community and jail settings to assess needs and link them to appropriate services.
• Collaborate with CHD staff to ensure client choice, self‑determination, and coordinated treatment planning.
• Document interactions and progress, adhering to agency policies and confidentiality standards.

Required profile

• Personal history of mental health symptoms and experience receiving therapy.
• Ability to complete 40‑hour Peer Delivered Services training and register as a Traditional Health Worker‑Family Support Partner within 90 days.
• Possession or willingness to obtain MHACBO Certified Recovery Mentor certification.
• CADC I certification or ability to obtain it within two years.
• Valid Oregon driver’s license and insurability for client service travel.
• Pass criminal history check and drug screening as required by Oregon law.
