IT Systems Engineer

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking an IT Systems Engineer to design, automate, and manage enterprise server infrastructure for the Secretary of State office. You will work across hybrid Windows and Linux environments, ensuring reliability, security, and self‑healing capabilities on‑premises and in the cloud.

Key responsibilities

• Administer Windows Server services: Active Directory, Group Policy, PKI, DNS, DHCP.
• Manage Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Intune for identity and device compliance.
• Maintain Linux servers (Ubuntu, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux) and Nutanix virtualization, plus VMware in disconnected sites.
• Oversee Rubrik backup infrastructure and AWS cloud resources.
• Own patch cycles, remediate security vulnerabilities, and support server hardware lifecycle.
• Develop automation with PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ansible playbooks, and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Design monitoring, alerting, and self‑healing automation; administer PAM/credential vault solutions.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and mentor junior staff.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience in systems administration for both Windows and Linux.
• Proven ability to lead complex infrastructure projects and mentor team members.
• Solid understanding of security best practices and patch management.
