IT Systems Administrator – Launch

About the role

SpaceX is seeking a highly skilled IT Systems Administrator to support the launch environment. The role ensures mission‑critical networking, compute, and application services operate reliably, enabling a safe and sustained launch cadence.

Key responsibilities

• Deploy and augment IT infrastructure, including networking, server, and desktop hardware supporting mission‑critical networks.
• Perform system upgrades and patches, often during weekends or evenings, to maintain operational readiness.
• Monitor IT services and respond rapidly to incidents to preserve performance.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to proactively identify and resolve technical issues.
• Author and maintain comprehensive documentation, from system overviews to procedures.
• Leverage automation tools and contribute to IT systems engineering initiatives.
• Ensure configurations comply with industry and cybersecurity standards such as ITAR, ISO, and NIST.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of experience in IT systems administration.
• Hands‑on experience with Linux or Windows server administration.
• Experience managing enterprise networks and deployments.
• Willingness to work weekends and night shifts as needed.

Required skills

• Linux and Windows Server administration.
• Enterprise network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, NTP, PTP) and firewall management.
• Scripting in Bash, PowerShell, and Python.
• Automation frameworks such as Terraform, Ansible, and Puppet.
• Active Directory and multi‑platform authentication.
• Virtualization platforms and tools.
• Layer 1 configuration and multiplexing technologies.
• Windows services (SCCM, Active Directory).
• Real‑time systems and industrial telemetry networks.
• Configuration management, infrastructure as code, and DevOps concepts.
