IT Support Technician – COM Services

About the role

The University of Vermont is seeking an IT Support Technician to provide comprehensive technical assistance to faculty, staff, and students within the College of Medicine (COM). You will work in a fast‑paced service center, handling walk‑in and phone inquiries while supporting a wide range of campus technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver first‑line support for Active Directory accounts, desktop operating systems, and software applications.
• Troubleshoot network access, hardware (desktop, laptop, mobile devices), and public computer stations.
• Maintain video‑conferencing and audio/visual equipment for classrooms and meeting spaces.
• Escalate complex issues, conduct research, and coordinate with other technical support teams.
• Assist in the rollout of new technology initiatives, providing training and documentation for end users.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in technology support.
• Strong knowledge of the Windows platform, computer hardware, and peripherals.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other office support applications.
• Basic understanding of client/server networking.
• Ability to troubleshoot Mac computers is desirable.
