IT Support Specialist

About the role

The IT Support Specialist is the frontline resource for day‑to‑day technical support, troubleshooting, and system maintenance across Nooks’ sites. Working closely with the IT Systems Manager, you will assist end users, maintain IT infrastructure, and gain hands‑on experience to progress toward senior administration roles.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Tier I and Tier II technical support, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
• Assist with physical setup and maintenance of workstations, monitors, cabling, and peripherals.
• Perform basic system administration tasks such as account creation, permission updates, and patching under supervision.
• Document support requests, actions taken, resolutions, and configuration changes.
• Escalate complex or unresolved issues to senior staff.
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies and DoD security standards.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support secure and compliant operations.
• Contribute to IT projects and system improvements.

Required profile

• 1–2 years of experience in IT support, helpdesk, or system administration (DoD experience preferred).
• DoD 8140.03/8570.01 Information Assurance Technical II certification or ability to obtain within six months (e.g., CompTIA Security+).
• Foundational knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems and networking concepts.
• Strong documentation skills and ability to track technical work accurately.
• Excellent communication and customer‑service abilities.
