IT Helpdesk Support Technician (Entry Level)

About the role

WearLinq, a maker of ambulatory cardiac monitoring equipment, is looking for an organized, hands-on IT technician to keep its employees equipped, secure and productive. You will set up and secure company computers, handle new hire and departing employee IT tasks, manage IT equipment from purchase to return, and provide day-to-day helpdesk support. Training is provided, and this is presented as a starting role for someone building a career in IT. The position is a contract engagement based in the Rockville, MD office.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and secure company PCs and laptops, install security tools and apply OS updates and patches
• Prepare equipment and accounts for new hires and off-board departing employees
• Request and order IT equipment, maintain an accurate IT inventory, and ship and retrieve equipment for remote employees
• Inspect, wipe and re-stage returned devices
• Respond to employee requests by email, phone and ticket, troubleshoot common issues and manage user accounts and permissions in Google Workspace
• Help employees with company applications and write simple how-to guides

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; IT coursework, associate degree or CompTIA A+ a plus
• 0-2 years of IT support, help desk or related experience (internships and lab experience count)
• Ability to lift and pack equipment up to 25 lbs
• Respects confidentiality and will complete HIPAA training

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Windows 10/11; basic macOS a plus
• Basic understanding of computer hardware, networking and troubleshooting
• Nice to have: Google Workspace administration, remote management or ticketing tools, and UPS WorldShip experience
