Investigator – UN Oversight Services

About the role

The Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) of the United Nations seeks an experienced Investigator to join its Investigations Division in New York. The role involves planning, conducting and managing investigations into misconduct, fraud, corruption and other violations of UN regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organize and lead investigations of alleged misconduct, fraud, waste of resources, sexual exploitation and abuse, and other violations of UN rules.
• Gather and analyze evidence, conduct interviews, review documentation and prepare concise investigation reports.
• Identify potential criminal conduct and refer cases to national authorities when required.
• Collaborate with other investigators and staff, ensuring compliance with OIOS procedures and UN regulations.
• Collect and visualise data to identify trends and support decision‑making.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in law or a related field; a first‑level degree plus two years of relevant experience may be considered.
• Minimum five years of full‑time investigative experience, including interviewing witnesses and working on international investigations.
• Experience in data analytics or related areas is desirable.
• Fluency in English (UN Level III); French is desirable.
