International Patient Coordinator (Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center)

About the role

The International Patient Coordinator supports international patients who seek care within the University of Miami Health System, acting as the primary liaison among referral sources, patients, physicians, and hospitals. This role ensures that all aspects of the patient’s journey are organized, timely, and courteous.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full cycle of medical services for international patients, from appointment scheduling to discharge.
• Troubleshoot issues quickly and involve department ambassadors when needed.
• Verify insurance coverage and schedule appointments.
• Collect and verify patient, physician, and payer data.
• Prepare pricing, bundled packages, CPT codes, and diagnosis information; obtain agreements and payments from international payers.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with doctors, referral sources, staff, patients, and families.
• Arrange transportation and lodging for international patients.
• Provide on‑call, after‑hours assistance for coordination of care.
• Follow university policies and safeguard assets.

Required profile

• Associate degree in a related field.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Strong independent and collaborative work capabilities.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
