Internal Auditor

About the role

The Internal Auditor will support and enhance the organization’s SOX compliance program, ensuring robust internal controls over financial reporting. You will work closely with control owners, external auditors, and finance leadership to identify gaps, test controls, and drive remediation.

Key responsibilities

• Support design, execution, and maintenance of the SOX program, including process identification, walkthroughs, and documentation.
• Lead or support control walkthroughs with external auditors and coordinate with control owners.
• Perform testing of design, implementation, and operating effectiveness of internal controls for in‑scope processes.
• Investigate control gaps, assess severity, and provide practical remediation recommendations.
• Report testing status, deficiencies, and remediation progress to IA and Finance leadership.
• Participate in annual SOX program planning, scoping, and ongoing risk assessments.
• Execute risk‑based operational audits and advisory engagements, including audit planning, scope development, and execution of tailored audit procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in audit, internal controls, accounting, or financial reporting.
• CPA designation and Big 4 experience are strong assets.
• Demonstrated experience with SOX requirements and solid understanding of business risks, controls, and audit testing methodologies.
• Familiarity with IFRS or US GAAP accounting frameworks.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; additional certifications such as CIA are a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience with AuditBoard or similar audit management tools.
• Ability to use data analysis tools for testing and reporting.
