Intergovernmental Engagement Consultant

About the role

UNICEF is seeking an Intergovernmental Engagement Consultant to provide analytical, advocacy and partnership expertise that strengthens UNICEF’s engagement on children and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The consultant will work from the New York office and produce strategic knowledge products that inform UNICEF’s work with Member States and UN processes related to the 2030 Agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Develop advocacy, briefing and political analysis products for SDG‑related platforms and intergovernmental fora such as ECOSOC and the High‑Level Political Forum.
• Produce materials that increase the visibility and integration of children’s rights in sustainable development discussions and outcomes.
• Create partnership engagement and reporting deliverables for UNICEF’s collaboration with Nord Anglia Education on children and the SDGs.
• Generate knowledge products and practical recommendations to enhance child and youth participation in Voluntary National Review (VNR) processes.
• Document lessons learned and political analysis from intergovernmental discussions and advance advocacy linked to the Group of Friends of Children and the SDGs.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in international affairs, social sciences, economics, communication or a related field.
• At least two years of professional experience in political or policy advocacy, intergovernmental affairs, partnerships, youth engagement or strategic communications.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the United Nations system, Member State and intergovernmental processes, and the Sustainable Development Goals.
