Insurance Coverage Attorney (NYC/Westchester, Hybrid)

About the role

Kaufman Borgeest & Ryan LLP, a defense and insurance coverage firm with more than 130 lawyers and eight offices across New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and California, is hiring an Insurance Coverage Attorney for its coverage and coverage litigation teams in New York City or Westchester County (Valhalla). The position is hybrid office/remote and suits an attorney with 0+ years of experience who represents international and domestic insurers in complex coverage litigation involving liability policies such as Management Liability, Cyber, Professional Liability, Financial Institutions and Commercial General Liability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop litigation strategy for insurance coverage disputes and take key roles in coverage litigation and arbitration
• Research and analyze complex cases, draft memoranda and position letters
• Analyze insurance policies, draft coverage analyses and advise clients
• Supervise and take part in mediation and settlement of underlying litigations worldwide
• Draft and review pleadings, memos, briefs, interrogatories and other litigation documents
• Take part in depositions, document reviews, conferences and arbitrations
• Work cooperatively with colleagues and interact with clients

Required profile

• Admission to practice in New York or New Jersey
• At least 0+ years of experience in commercial litigation or in-house work with liability insurance policies
• Excellent academic credentials and solid work history
• Ability to act independently, handle client interaction and command client confidence
