Insulation Technician

About the role

CB&I Storage Solutions is hiring an Insulation Technician in Plainfield, Illinois, as an individual contributor within its Insulation Group. The role maintains industrial and construction equipment and sets up and operates machinery used to insulate CB&I storage tanks, both domestically and internationally, while following all CB&I safety procedures. It reports to the Insulation Manager and involves about 50% travel.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain basic equipment and troubleshoot electrical issues
• Work on a variety of motors, pumps or compressors
• Spray polyurethane foam and/or paint
• Ship, set up, operate and break down equipment on site
• Install proprietary insulation systems on storage tanks
• Prepare test samples, mount them in test equipment, run tests and record data in spreadsheets
• Coordinate with HSES, construction managers and clients, and forecast task times and deadlines
• Propose improvements to tools and workflows

Required profile

• 2+ years of experience in construction, mechanical or insulation work, or a technical school background
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to obtain a TWIC card and willingness to travel 50%
• Location: Plainfield, IL, initially supporting the Cryogenics Test Lab

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel and basic Microsoft Office
• Computer software use and data entry in spreadsheets
• Excellent verbal and written communication
