Instrumentation & Controls Technician

About the role

CenTrio is looking for an Instrumentation & Controls Technician to install, calibrate, repair and maintain steam and chilled water metering stations, as well as instrumentation and control systems in its Syracuse plant.

Key responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, troubleshoot and program field devices such as control valves, pneumatic damper drives, VFDs, PLCs and process control systems.
• Develop and execute calibration procedures for measurement and control nodes.
• Commission new loops, panels and integrate systems into the facility.
• Maintain preventive‑maintenance schedules, calibration records and documentation.
• Read complex schematics, wiring diagrams and P&ID/PFD drawings to support installation and repairs.
• Use test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, data analyzers, PC‑based software) to diagnose issues.
• Maintain network communications (fiber, Ethernet) and repair process system components.

Required profile

• Associate degree or technical training in electrical/electronic discipline or equivalent experience.
• 1‑3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial process plant.
• Ability to work safely with PPE, lift up to 100 lb, and perform tasks in confined, noisy, hot or cold environments.
• Willingness to work holidays, weekends, overtime and during adverse weather.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of PLC/HMI/SCADA/DCS hardware and software.
• Experience with instrumentation (flow, temperature, pressure, valves).
• Proficiency with communication protocols such as CIP, Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP/IP.
• Ability to read and interpret P&ID and PFD diagrams.
• Competence with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Soldering, use of hand and power tools, and network troubleshooting.
